About the tournament....

Shortly after Mark’s death, several friends and people in the community began asking family members if any kind of memorial or event to honor him was planned. Knowing Mark’s love of golf, the question, "When is the golf tournament?" was asked over and over. The question was always followed with, "What can I do to help?" It wasn’t long before Mark’s brothers and a group of his closest friends began meeting to discuss the idea of such an event. Everyone agreed that the tournament would be an appropriate way to honor Mark’s sacrifice and to pay homage to all fallen soldiers.

This year’s inaugural tournament is the most important. The first year will set the stage for the most prestigious team golf event in Lafayette. What separates this tournament from others is the people involved in making it a success. Mark’s death opened the community’s eyes to the reality of war and the sacrifice soldiers make in their fight to keep our country free. His service has inspired many prominent members of the community to make this event worthy of his – and all soldiers’ – sacrifice. An army of energetic volunteers will work hard to make this a successful event.

Much of the sponsorship money and entry fees will be used to make this tournament one to remember as the south’s best amateur golfers compete for top prizes. The caliber of prizes for the top teams will encourage the best golfers to attend, while a novice category will give average players an opportunity to battle for additional exceptional prizes. Door prizes, individual hole competitions, putting, driving, and other events will increase the chance for everyone to be a winner.

All levels of donations are being accepted to set the stage for a great tournament, and volunteers are in place to ensure each player and sponsor has a memorable experience. The foundation is currently looking for additional partners who want to be part of this special event. What we need is you.

This year’s Tee-Off Party and Auction will be held on Thursday, October 25th, at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette. Tickets for the Party is $30 per person and the evening will bring together sponsors, players, Mark’s family and friends to gather in honor of Mark and celebrate his passion for golf and partying.

Hor d’oeuvres will be served, along with a cash bar, and live music by Troy Richard and the Richard Brothers Band.

Our network of volunteers has collected a vast assortment of auction items, which will be displayed for bidding, and there will be door prizes awarded throughout the evening.

We would love you to be among the list of businesses and organizations that have supported our foundation by donating an item for the auction. The foundation would appreciate any item that your organization would be willing to donate.

If you find yourself in a position to help the Mark W. Graham Foundation by donating such items, contact Stephanie Graham at (337) 257-3701 or email to Stephanie@MG20-20.com.
