Golf Tournament
An avid golfer, Mark’s plan was to attend a golf academy after his military service and then pursue a career as a golf course professional. This annual memorial golf tournament has been established in honor of his dream.
Shortly after Mark’s death, several friends and people in the community began asking family members if any kind of memorial or event to honor him was planned. Knowing Mark’s love of golf, the question, “When is the golf tournament?” was asked over and over. The question was always followed with, “What can I do to help?” It wasn’t long before Mark’s brothers and a group of his closest friends began meeting to discuss the idea of such an event. Everyone agreed that the tournament would be an appropriate way to honor Mark’s sacrifice and to pay homage to all fallen soldiers.
The Mark W. Graham Foundation Golf Tournament has been noted as one of the most prestigious team golf events in Lafayette. Due to the overwhelming interest and success of the tournament, we realize that this is not an ordinary corporate golf tournament.
To honor Mark and all heroes, the tournament begins with a 21-drive salute, a take on the traditional military 21-gun salute.
The caliber of prizes encourage some of the south’s best golfers to attend, while door prizes, individual hole competitions, closest to the hole, longest drive, and other events increase the chance for everyone to be a winner.
Immediately following the last player in from the course, the foundation golf tournament will host an Post-Tournament Party to announce the tournament winners, raffle winners, and give away a long list of fabulous door prizes throughout the evening. So come hungry, thirsty and ready to dance, as the Graham’s roll out the red carpet to thank the sponsors, players, volunteers, family, friends and most of all, to honor Mark and celebrate his passion for golf and partying. The foundation is currently looking for partners who want to be part of this special event.
